The Big Banyan Tree or locally called as the Dodda-Alada-Mara is in the village of Kethohalli near Bangalore. The giant tree is an amalgamation of several trees of its family.

The arial roots called as prop-roots of the Banyan tree over a period of time when they reached the ground, they become trunk and grow its own branches leaves grow its own roots and still remain as a family of the main tree connected with other prop-roots and family of grownup trees of the main Banyan tree. Dodda-Alada-Mara over a period of 400 years has spread over to a vast 3 acers of land. This is a prominent tourist picknick spot in Bangalore.
